“What then? Are we better than they? No, in no way. For we previously warned both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. As it is written, There is no one righteous; no, not one.” — Romans 3:9-10
The apostle Paul is making it clear that no one, Jew or Gentile, is inherently better than another because all people are under the power of sin. No one is righteous on their own, and everyone falls short of God’s standard. This levels the playing field, showing that salvation is not based on heritage, status, or works but solely on God’s grace.
We must recognize that we are all sinners in need of God’s mercy. No one can claim moral superiority, and no one can earn salvation by their own efforts. This should humble us and lead us to rely completely on the Lord’s grace through Jesus Christ. It also reminds us not to judge others harshly, since we all stand in need of the same forgiveness and redemption.
